History of KIBS
Like all auspicious undertakings, the project of building the Kirtipur Institute Of Buddhist Studies (KIBS) which was initiated in 2001 faced an extremely tough beginning.
Vision and Mission
The aim of the institute is to provide a venue conducive for followers from any part of the world to gain spiritual knowledge and enhance their spiritual development.
The Founder - Shangpa Rinpoche
On the 12th September 1960, a child was born in Dolpo, a place near the borders of Nepal and Tibet. It was unknown to anyone at the time that this child was a special child.

The Kagyu Lineage
The patron founders and the lineage masters who belong to the tradition of Kagyupa have been known throughout history to be Masters of Meditation and the Gurus of Buddhist Philosophy.
KIBS Teachers
Khenpo Acharya Ramesh is the main resident teacher of the institute. Khenpo Tsultrim Tharchin is the guest lecturer at KIBS.
